I phone 2-2012 049.MOV

I’m going to get on my soap box here for a minute. This is for those people out there that dump your dogs out in the country just because you don’t want them anymore. You’re COWARDS and you should left out to starve to and die! In my 17 years of caring for, loving, grooming, assisting veterinarians and rescuing, I’ve never seen a dog in the condition as one I saved today. This poor little girl and her brother were dumped out by my grooming shop a week or so ago. I’ve tried to get them to come to me but had failed. I assume that after so long without nutrition and shelter (mind you it was 18 degrees this morning), they were weak and ready to be caught. As I was temping to pick up the male he got away and headed into a field. Then I saw movement in the nearby brush. The female, whom I had not seen for some time now, was there and barking at me. As she turned, I gasped at what I saw. Her entire side was gone. My first thought was, how in the world can this dog be alive? Knowing that an injured dog can be aggressive, I took caution moving in to pet her. She let me touch her nose then her tail starting wagging. It was hard to fight back the tears knowing what pain she must be in. My husband brought me a blanket to wrap her in and we drove her back to the shop. She eats and drinks and is still wagging her tail. This is unbelievable. While I’m making phone calls for help my husband is able to catch her brother and they are very happy to see each other. Grooming a Bichon Mix

This is a Bichon Mix that I groom. He gets a short clip on the body with a 5/8 HT blade and a 1/2 clip on over #40 blade on the legs, the owners like a big head. I scissor his head and blend in his neck. I use a #10 for the pads and the groin. His tail is scissored short. He has a lot of warts on his body, so I clip gently on his body so I don’t catch a wart. His body hair is even, he may look uneven but it is just the camera. Thanks for watching. He takes me just over an hour from beginning to end. I think he is more poodle but his owner insist he is a Bichon. lol What happened to his tail? He came from a pet store, so we will never know what he is. He is cute and nice though.

Grooming the Golden Retriever with Lisa Leady

Full Video Available at: www.Learn2GroomDogs.com Lisa Leady demonstrates how to get a show look on a pet Golden Retriever. When she starts grooming this dog, the coat is packed with undercoat. Goldens should be athletic and muscular with a soft, pleasing expression. When grooming them, you want to show off these traits. Having large amounts of undercoat does not achieve this physically fix appearance. Plus excessive undercoat ends up all over the owner’s home. Lisa shows you how to work with carding tools to make even a couch potato look athletic. She statically removes bulk to bring out the angles of this dog. Next she shows you how to trim the head with thinning shears to get the soft expression so typical of this breed. This may not be a show dog but by the time Lisa gets done with her, she looks show ring ready.
